Hi!
I thought some of you might be interested to know the UK Chapter of
ISKO (International Society for Knowledge Organization) has now
been officially established and is being chaired by Vanda
Broughton and Bob Bater (see http://www.iskouk.org/about).
Our website is here: http://www.iskouk.org/, with our links page
pointing to fora, standards, topics that we observe and would like to
include in our activities. We have also created blog for promoting
research and communication in knowledge organisation
(http://iskouk.blogspot.com) to which anyone interested in our field is
welcome contribute.
We had our first meeting on Monday where Alan Gilchrist gave a
presentation (available at http://www.iskouk.org/inaugural.htm), on "If
it rained knowledge" which initiated a very lively discussion (it was
more like a shower actually). We did lack in-put from e-learning
community though and we hope to correct that in the future.
We are a group of like-minded individuals working in information
management/knowledge organisation in some way or another and would
welcome those of you who might be interested in our aims and discussions!
You can join ISKO UK from the website or just e-mail me
Kind regards
Aida Slavic
