MRC PROTEIN PHOSPHORYLATION UNIT
COLLEGE OF LIFE SCIENCES
UNIVERSITYOF DUNDEE, SCOTLAND
PROGRAMME LEADER, CELL BIOLOGIST WITH X-RAY CRYSTALLOGRAPHIC EXPERTISE
The Unit is seeking to recruit a cell biologist with X-ray
crystallographic expertise who will develop a structurally-based
programme aimed at understanding aspects of the role of protein
phosphorylation in cell regulation and human disease. The Unit
invites applications from both established scientists and younger
investigators wishing to set up their own laboratory for the first
time. The appointment will be made on the Medical Research Council’s
Programme Leader Band 2 scale (£43,147-no upper limit) or Programme
Leader-Track Band 3 scale (£34,933-£42,754 per annum), with initial
placement depending on achievements and experience.
The MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit is a major international centre
for research on cell signalling. Its current Programme Leaders
include Europe’s two most cited scientists over the past ten years in
the field of Biology and Biochemistry and its innovative
collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry (The Division of
Signal Transduction Therapy) received a Queen’s Anniversary Award in
2006. Another of the Unit’s Programme Leaders was recently awarded
the 2008 Colworth Medal (under 36 prize) of the Biochemical Society.
