Science Leader - Principal Research Scientist - Human Factors
Location: Sydney Australia
The CSIRO ICT Centre is building a role for Australia as a global ICT
innovator by delivering leading-edge Information and Communication
Technology solutions for industry and society. We are seeking to
appoint a Principal Research Scientist of international standing as
Science Leader, Human Factors in the Networking Technologies Laboratory
within the CSIRO ICT Centre, located at Marsfield in the suburbs of
Sydney, Australia.
The role of a Science Leader is to provide leadership in developing and
nurturing professional skills in the science area, as well as the
pursuit of excellence in this field.
The successful applicant will have an established international research
record in human factors. Specifically, the Science Leader will have
demonstrable experience and understanding in the use of organisational
psychology, human technology interaction and the integration of
information and communications technologies in complex organisational
settings. The applicant will have a record for innovation and generation
of new ideas, and a demonstrated ability to mentor staff in a range of
human factors disciplines, as well as supervision of students. It is
expected that the Science Leader will define the research direction of
the Human Factors science area, direct research projects and associated
priorities in the Networking Technologies Laboratory, and also
collaborate with the other three Research Laboratories within the
Centre, namely Wireless Technologies, Autonomous Systems, and
Information Engineering, as well as the eHealth Research Centre.
The successful applicant will be appointed to an indefinite position
within the CSIRO ICT Centre and upon appointment, also to the role of
Science Leader for a period of 3 years. A salary up to $A120K will be
negotiated.
He or she will possess a PhD in a relevant field such as Human Factors,
Psychology, Human Computer Interaction or an ICT-related field, and will
have a substantial record of research leadership in human factors in an
ICT environment.
