The Tenth European Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work
(ECSCW) will take place in Limerick, Ireland, 24-28 September 2007.
The conference is soliciting high quality contributions for a single- track paper program. Papers should present original reports of substantive new work and make clear the novel aspects of the research they present and its contribution to the development of CSCW theory and CSCW systems design. In particular, the conference welcomes:
Papers reporting novel techniques and technologies relevant to CSCW; Empirical studies of work that contribute to the design space of CSCW; And theoretical papers that enhance the conceptual foundations of CSCW.
All papers will be evaluated on their novelty, significance, quality, and contribution to the field. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings published by Springer, will be indexed in digital libraries, and will be made freely available on the web (www.ecscw.org).
ECSCW 2007 requires that submissions have not been published previously and that papers submitted are not under simultaneous review for any other conference, journal, or other publication.
Papers must be formatted in strict accordance with the ECSCW formatting instructions (see author kit and paper templates available at the conference website) and must be submitted in PDF format.
Papers should be up to 20 pages in length; however, it is important that their length is appropriate for their content. Papers must be rendered anonymous to facilitate blind review, and authors should take care throughout their paper that their own and their institution's identity is not revealed. However, relevant references to an author's previous research should not be suppressed, if they are required for reviewers to understand and evaluate the paper's contribution.
All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Details will be available shortly at the ECSCW 2007 website: www.ecscw07.org
Important dates
23 March 2007 Paper submissions due (electronic submission) 18th May 2007 Accept/reject notification 8th June 2007 Finished papers (camera-ready electronic submission) Workshops and/or masterclasses
These will take place on 22-23 September 2007. Workshops are designed to offer an informal environment for focused group discussion and learning. Workshops may be for half-day or full day sessions. Master classes will offer a small number of participants the opportunity to learn about specific CSCW concepts, methods and techniques from recognised experts.
Chair: Mark Rouncefield, Lancaster University
Submissions deadline: 20 April 2007
Demos & Videos
Demonstrations and videos should illustrate original collaborative systems, experiences or applications. Authors who are submitting papers are also encouraged to consider submitting demonstrations and videos that show their work. Accepted submissions will be selected based on their technical content, interest and relevance to the ECSCW community. Descriptions of accepted demonstrations and videos will be included in the Conference Supplement. Videos will be played during the conference and be made available to participants on a DVD.
Demonstration software might also be distributed that way. (NOTE:
Local technical support for live demonstrations will be limited, so demonstrations need to be self-supporting.)
Chair: Annette Aboulafia, University of Limerick
Submissions deadline: 20 April 2007
Posters
ECSCW 2006 will include a poster category for late-breaking and preliminary results, smaller results not suitable for a full paper, innovative ideas not yet validated through full user studies, early student research, and other research best presented in an interactive forum. Posters will be on display for the duration of the conference.
Furthermore, posters will have advertised mini-sessions during the breaks where the focus will be on a given list of poster presentations. During the scheduled timeslot, one of the authors is expected to be at the poster for informal discussions with conference attendees.
Poster abstracts will be published in a Conference Supplement that will be circulated to attendees at registration.Abstracts will not be incorporated into the main ECSCW 2006 Conference Proceedings.
Chair: David Pinelle, University of Nevada Las Vegas
