POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (TWO-YEAR)

The Department of Archaeology, University of Cambridge, seeks to appoint a
2-year post-doctoral research associate with effect from 1 October 2007
through 30 Sept 2009. This position is within the Leverhulme Research
Programme "Changing Beliefs of the Human Body", a grant-funded,
interdisciplinary research initiative.
The principal duty of the position will be to collaborate as a key team
member in the final writing-up (with full co-authorship) of the research
programme, integrating and interpreting results from its component
research projects. The successful applicant will also be expected to
participate in other programme-related activities (seminars, conferences,
museum exhibition), and there will be a defined scope for continuing your
own research projects and for career development.
Necessary qualifications include:
* PhD in prehistoric, historic or Classical archaeology or a related field
in hand by September 30, 2007
* broad theoretical background and interests
* ability to write clearly and confidently on a range of topics
* good organisational and teamwork skills and ability to meet deadlines
A background of research in a field related to the themes of the programme
(body theory, art and representation, belief, religion and ritual,
tradition and change) would be an advantage but not essential.
