Postgraduate studentship in Statistics
Applications are invited for a PhD studentship, funded jointly by the
EPSRC and
GlaxoSmithKline, to commence on 1st Novemeber 2007. The project's title
is
"Novel Statistical Methods for Whole Genome Association Studies with
Neuroimaging Data"
The project will appeal to anyone with an interest in data mining,
predictive modeling and
computer vision applied to bioinformatics. Applicants should have, or
expect to
obtain, at least a 2.1 Honours degree in a relevant discipline, for
example
Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics. Good numeracy and computer
skills are expected.
This is an exciting opportunity to combine studying for a PhD whilst
gaining
industrial experience in a world leading company. As well as GSK's

project consumables, travel to conferences, production of your thesis
and accommodation
whilst working at the new GSK Imaging Center located at the Hammersmith
Campus.

Eligibility for support is restricted under UK Research Council
guidelines: UK citizens
normally resident in the UK or EU citizens working in the UK may be
considered for a full award; however, EU nationals not normally resident
