Biological weapons have been in use throughout the ages ever since the ancients deliberately spread plague and disease amongst their enemies. There have been many alleged and real incidents in recent years and today we face an increasing concern over the threat of terrorists obtaining and using bio-agents.

Professor Anderson will talk about potential bio-agents and the advances in technology and research that will enable us to understand them better so that we can combat them. He will describe some of the MoD's facilities and outline the research there, much of which takes place in the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory. These resources provide advanced technical capabilities that are relevant to bio-defence measures which enable us to detect, identify, counter, protect against and manage the threats.
There is no charge for attendance at this lecture but booking is required. A quick call or e-mail will suffice to reserve your place. Please get in touch with Debra Hurcomb at the RSS. Her contact details are: Telephone: 020 7614 3934 or E-mail: [log in to unmask]
