Dear All,
I would like to remind you of the following much demanded course organised as part of the Day Break Programme.
Course: Meta Analysis
A One-Day Course at the London Mathematical Society
By John Copas
Date: Tuesday 3rd April 2007
Please book early to guarantee a place.
Synopsis
This special course will focus on statistical aspects of meta analysis. The topics to be covered will include:
The aims of a systematic review
Statistical methods of meta analysis, how and why they work, and the assumptions behind them
Looking intelligently at meta analysis data and selecting sensible statistical models
Problems of bias and what to do about them
Interpreting the results of a meta analysis and understanding their limitations
The course will be of interest to:
Statisticians curious to know what meta analysis is all about
Researchers who have used or might use meta analysis and want to get a better understanding of the underlying statistics
Teachers who might want to introduce meta analysis to their students
Biopic
Professor John Copas, Professor of Statistics at the University of Warwick, is interested in statistical methodology and the applications of statistical methods. He is a leading authority on the statistics of meta analysis. He has published widely in this field, his papers appearing in several of the leading statistical and medical research journals.
Cost:
£70 (for university staff and students) includes tea, coffee, lunch and course materials (discounts available for participants from same university/college - £120 for two, £165 for three)
£120 (for non-academics)
