Leeds/Bradford: Wednesday 14 March, 2pm-3.30pm, Leeds University
Slot mathematics: a game of numbers
Noelia Oses (NOF Consulting).
Probability is at the heart of random gambling games. Players' luck only features in the short term.
In the long term it is all up to the probability distribution of the prizes in the game (win
distribution) and the law of large numbers. The main result that can be deduced from the win
distribution is the payback percentage, i.e. the percentage of the collected money the game will
return to the players in the long term. An overview of some of the more popular slot game elements -
with details of corresponding modelling strategies - will be presented.
The meeting will be held at Leeds University’s EC Stoner Building on Level 8, Room 08.60, starting
at 2pm with refreshments afterwards in the School of Mathematics.
