Medical Statistician for the Diabetes and Vascular Disease Group
Academic Related Grade 7: Salary: £25 889 - £31 840 p.a
A statistician is required to work with the Diabetes and Vascular Disease
Group within the Department of Primary Health Care. The post will be funded
for 3 years in the first instance. The post holder will work under the
supervision of the University Lecturer in General Practice, Dr Andrew
Farmer, and will be supported by the Senior Research Fellow in Statistics,
Dr Rafael Perera. The main areas of responsibility are to provide
statistical advice and support to a research programme aimed at developing
our understanding of how people can be better supported in the
self-management of long-term conditions, including determining the frequency
of monitoring and the evaluation of interventions to support lifestyle
changes and the actions to be taken as a result of monitoring. Initially
this will involve analysing data collected in a series of recently completed
trials, in addition to providing support for ongoing trials. The successful
applicant will be expected to contribute to study design, design and
implement systems for data collection, and analyse data under the direction
of Dr Farmer and Dr Perera. The successful applicant will have completed a
Masters degree, will have experience in use of a range of statistical
software and will have had some previous research experience.
