My first pass is concerned with teasing out the history of Thelemic work in CA. Currently, I'm looking at some books from Red Flame, specifically the bios of Jane Wolfe and Grady Louis McMurtry. I'd be most grateful for any suggestions for further research sources.
Rey:
I think the two [or is that four] RedFlame published Bios will be very insightful, coupled to Martin P. Starr’s “The Unknown God: W.T. Smith and the Thelemites” as Arild mentioned.
You may also enjoy reading 'Perdurabo', which is a biography on Aleister Crowley by Richard Kaczynski, which proffers some insights into some of the personalities that came to form the Agape Lodge and subsequent birth of the Caliphate under Grady Louis McMurtry.
I would also recommend reading 'Strange Angel' by George Pendle, which is a biography on the noted rocket scientist, Jack Parsons who was deeply involved the development of the Thelemic culture in CA in its inceptional days at Agape Lodge. In fact, it was Jack Parson's intercession that brought Grady to the work of Thelema and Grady's eventual meeting with A.C. during WWII.
There is also this webpage with a short paper by Grady talking about his meeting with Crowley:
On Knowing Aleister Crowley Personally

There are many other resouces you could examine as well, one is the archives of the Thelema Lodge Newsletter and of course contact such personalities as Martin P. Starr, Jerry Cornelius, and Bill Heidrick in letter as to resource materials they may be able to direct you towards.
This may be more information you you desired, but since this is a shared interest I thought I would offer some suggestions. [grin]
Sincerely,
