How would you feel about a counter argument (ignoring Vista I'm
afraid) that Judaism, Protestantism, and Islam particularly during
its European phase, as well as virtually all the Eastern religions,
have seen and been party to the flowering of both intellectual and
social progress? Rather as expected it is also the exposure of
peoples to different religions that has produced both conflict and advancement.
For those interested http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_philosophy
has something to say about this, and also under the sections "The
perception of God and the gods" and "Gods' relationship with the
universe" some points relevant to the definition of Gods.
