Applications are invited for two posts, available for up to three years, to
be held jointly between the Department of Health Sciences and the Centre for
Health Economics. You will work on a range of projects concerning the use of
economic evaluation to establish the value for money of particular health
care technologies and research. You will make a major contribution to a
Medical Research Council funded project to apply cutting edge decision
modelling to assess treatments for pressure ulcers, and the value and nature
of future research in this area. One of these positions will be available at
Grade 7 for a sufficiently experienced candidate (please refer to person
specifications).
Applicants should have good quantitative skills and hold a Masters degree in
health economics, economics or another quantitative subject. Experience of
research in a health related context is desirable. For appointment at the
more senior level, applicants must either hold a PhD in a relevant
discipline or have equivalent experience, and demonstrate evidence of
independent research. The more senior appointee will also contribute more
widely to the work of the Team for Economic Evaluation and Health Technology
Assessment (TEEHTA) in CHE, working on decision analytic cost-effectiveness
modelling, analysis of clinical trial data for economic evaluation, Bayesian
decision theory and value of information analysis.
