It's years since I last looked at it but it occurs to me that you might be
able to get some help from Roger Schank's book 'Tell me a Story'. He was a
leading light in artificial intelligence back in the 80s and 90s and was
attempting at the time he wrote the book, I believe, to reproduce in
computers some aspects of human storytelling ability.
