I keep thinking that Tricky Dick hasn't died, that he's still haunting
the white house. Which in a sense he is, as most of the current US
administration served in the Nixon administration. Karl Rove to name
but one. "Plausible deniability" seems to have become the guiding
principle of the Bush govt.
Also weaselly was Rumsfeld's attempts to re-define torture so that
they wouldn't come with the Geneva conventions.
Not that the Brits are any better: the British citizens that have gone
through the Gitmo process report that members of the British Secret
Services sat in on the torture sessions. Also, this govt aided and
abetted the rendition process, not least by turning a blind eye to the
transit of victims through the UK. I wonder if they did that in return
for "intelligence"?
Roger.
