I don't think that's true about the people hanging out in boats at
Candlestick... the only folks i ever saw out there when the tide was in were
windsurfers... my first ballpark that one... saw Allen Ginsberg read a poem
before The Grateful Dead sang the national anthem one year... <--tying my
comment in...
before my day, i believe the outfield was open, but i never heard of a ball
getting knocked out of the stadium there... certainly, if it happened, the
ball would have bounced around in the parking lot which surrounded the
park...
in the current park, the rightfield wall is basically right up against the
water and people still hang out in the water there where, as has been
documented on numerous occasions, the spash hits go down... i haven't been
to a game there in about five years, though...
