Research Assistant/Associate

We are seeking a Research Assistant/Associate to work in the Department of Clinical Neuroscience within the Division of Neuroscience and Mental Health based at the Hammersmith Campus, located in East Acton.
You will join a research project funded by the Medical Research Council, to undertake research into excitatory neurotransmission via NMDA receptors in man. Your main responsibility will be to assist in developing a programme using functional (ligand PET) imaging with MRI and EEG to localise epileptic foci, and understand the functional and structural changes responsible for them. In particular, the role of glutamate voltage channels, GABA and opioid transmission is being studied. In addition, there is a thriving programme developing probabilistic atlases of the human brain and using the data to automatically anatomically segment MRI datasets.
You will have, or will shortly obtain, a PhD in medical imaging, epilepsy or an equivalent qualification in a related field. You should have experience of imaging research and have published high calibre research articles. You should also have excellent IT, communication and team working skills.
The post is full-time, on a fixed term until 30 April 2009.
