Bin,
I cant remember the posts, but three relevant projects might be
Urban Tapestries, http://urbantapestries.net/
Equator, http://www.cs.ucl.ac.uk/research/equator/
Cityware, http://www.cityware.org.uk/
All of these have been involved in various forms of tracking people's fine
scale activity and movement use of the city - the latter in Bath not London.
Of course openstreetmap might be relevant as well?
