The Service Delivery and Organisation (SDO) Research and Development
Programme aims to produce research evidence directed at improving the
organisation and delivery of health services. The SDO Programme is one of
the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Programmes.
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
MEDICINES FOR CHILDREN LIMITED OPEN CALL SCHEME (LOCS)
The SDO Programme continues to commission research on service delivery and
organisation issues in national priority areas. One of these areas is
research related to medicines for children.
Ref: MFC193 – Organisational and service delivery aspects of medicines for
children; a maximum of £1 million over three years is available for
research in this area. Projects of one, two, or three years’ duration may
be funded up to a maximum of £400,000 per project and it is likely that up
to 4 projects will be funded during this round. Projects are expected to
start in Autumn 2007. The application process will be in two stages, with
outline proposals being invited in the first instance.
Applicants are asked to submit proposals for the above call by Wednesday
21 March 2007 at 1.00 pm.
PATIENT-AND CARER-CENTRED SERVICES
The SDO Programme is continuing its programmes of work on Patient and
Carer-centred Services. Proposals are now invited to conduct further
research under this theme.
Ref: PCC190 Continuity of care for offenders; funding of up to £400,000 is
available for one empirical study, which should take no longer than 3
years to complete and start by Autumn 2007. The application process will
be in two stages, with outline proposals being invited in the first
instance.
Applicants are asked to submit proposals for the above call by Wednesday
28 March 2007 at 1.00 pm.

Applicants must submit proposals online using the SDO electronic
Commissioning and Appraisal System (eCAS) which can be accessed via:

Further guidance regarding online submission is available on the eCAS
website using the help guidance on each page. You will need to register
with eCAS pre-submission. All applicants are advised to familiarise
themselves with eCAS before the deadline for proposals.
