Dear All,
I'm looking for information (chemical composition and metallographic
images) about copper sheathing in the Royal Navy in 1805.
In this moment, I'm analysing some fragments of copper sheathing removed
from three shipwrecks, possibly Bucentare (1804-1805) and Fougueux
(1785-1805), French hulls sunken after the Battle of Trafalgar in the Bay
of Cádiz, and the Spanish Santa María Magdalena (1773-1810), sunken in 1810
in Brión. The last, even though it did not participate in the battle, if
take part in the previous campaign to the encounter in waters of Cádiz. I
would like to compare the copper sheathing employed in this event.
Tank you very much.
