just to clarify, our EDRMS contains some private space we can use for 'stuff' that should remain outside the corporate file system because it does not relate to corporate activity.

The only organisation I know with such an enforcement policy in place is
the National Archives (TNA) of UK. Emails are kept in Outlook only for
three months. If they are not saved in the organisation EDRMS within this
period of time, they are automatically deleted and cannot be retrieved.
This policy also applies to documents that are saved outside the EDRMS.
Please don't print this e-mail unless you really need to.
