Thanks for the great notes and Amy's intro. of sorts. I believe, Amy,
that you entered the lists after I cut back on posting, so here's my
hello. Health is ok, but eyes remain a problem. I've a giant floater
in my left inscribing figure eights. I'm on blood thinners and working
out, so no chest pains for the past couple of years. Candice, I think
that we last communicated when I was moving from Kyushu to the Tokyo
area over six years ago. Though I miss the countryside, the rice
fields, the ferry trips to South Korea, and the old ways of doing
things, it's great to reside within an hour's train ride of some of
the great museums and symphonies. I've also managed repeated trips to
London and extended stays in Sheffield (where I had the pleasure of
meeting Alison in the flesh, and hanging out with buddies Alan,
Geraldine, Kevin, and others), also Los Angeles where I hung out with
Kasia Daley, Bruna Mori, and Jerry Rothenberg, San Francisco, and most
recently New York City. I've a selected poems out now, which is
selling well, and am collaborating with composer Ralph Lichtensteiger on
projects. Also, the University of Maryland bought my papers for their
archives, so my family has considerably more room in the apartment and I
can actually find space in the book shelves in my university office for
new tomes. Finally--and best of all--my family is doing quite well--and
we have a "new" addition--Tennessee Junko Glass--who speaks Japanese
in a manner that puts her old man to shame. Anyway, thanks for the
welcome. I hope to add my voice from time to time. All best, Jesse
