Yes, but actually, thanks to everyone, the tales/memories are fun to
read.
Traveling as a poet can help in meeting many, in fact. So I have met
many of the Aussie poets Andrew mentioned, & had good times with them
all....
Indeed, the first time I came to New Zealand & Australia, I was far too
ignorant, but soon learned what I had been missing. My first day in NZ,
I walked into the University of Canterbury bookstore, & looked at the
books of poetry. Found this interesting tome titled Good Looks by a
Bill Manhire. Opened it to the page with 'Defining the Naked Horse' on
it, almost fell over laughing, & bought the book on the spot. Was lucky
enough to meet him later, too.
There are so many whose work I admire, though, & it's really great when
the person turns out to be as interesting & terrific as the poems, but
meeting on the page may be the most important....
And of course, many Canadians, only some of whom most of the people
here may have heard of, who read across the country, & so come here
too. Actually, I'd say that almost all the poets on whose work I've
written, I've also met. Hmmnnn....
