Yeah, I had a friend, a painter, who wouldn't simply sign his name to his
paintings. For a while, he didn't sign them at all. Then, instead of simply
"Burt Levitsky," he signed them "through Burt Levitsky."
I understand that. But for me, whatever creative universal force initiates a
poem, as it passes through me it will be affected by me, and by passing
through me. I understand how one could set, as a goal, the nullification of
self so that the purity of the creative force is unalloyed, and I respect
that. But it's not my goal.
