Allen Ginsberg (heard read and went to his reception)
Kenneth Koch (heard read)
Basil Bunting (heard read, and he gave me some wine)
Gregory Corso (heard read and he autographed a book)
Bob Kaufman (well actually I just bought him a beer once if that counts)
Corso--miraculously came to a reading I was in--a poet I know convinced him
(pretty sure GC was drunk but it was like glimpsing a rainbow)
Galway Kinnell and CK Williams==both read and spoke about 911 at 92 St Y
Merwin--day workshop at American Academy of Poets, got to chat with him
(very tan, very suave, charm you could bottle)
Bly--tried to convince him to translate Pushkin (with me as the Russian
translator)
Todd Colby-- took a really good workshop at the NYC Poetry Project with him
some ten years ago, a fine teacher who really encouraged creativity, and a
real scholar, have read with him twice
Koch-- taught at my school
Poets I've had read for Sliding Scale Poetry, the intermittent series I
curate: Patricia Smith, Jackie Sheeler, Paul Violi, Hal Sirowitz, Bob Holman,
Regie Cabico, Sparrow, Anne Elliott, Edwin Torres, Bob Viscusi, Miguel
