James
I have had a recent situation relating to a known epileptic who had been fit
free for many years (about 20). She had a "strange turn" and her license to
drive was suspended for 12 months. She then had unrelated other problems.
After 8 months off sick she was referred to OH and although keen to return
to work was reliant on family to drive her 40 mile round trip to work. I
suggested that she contact the Access to Work team and they verbally told
her to use a taxi which would be funded in the short term pending
investigation of alternative support. (with a reasonable deduction for
normal costs she would incur). I appreciate she had a condition which would
fit the DDA but both she and I were impressed at the support and speed
offered.
Support is out there -just needs accessing.
