Subject: Re: [OCC-HEALTH] Evidence based practice (EBP)
Hi
i am probably wrong but there doesnt seem to be much in the way of research
based practice/guidelines for OH to follow, I think this is highlighted with
the varied responses to questions posed? Is the problem lack of research at
the higher levels of criteria, a problem for nursing and public health as
methods are not so meansureable scientifically. I know there are some
guidelines out there as higlhighted.
I found useful the RCN OH guidelines that I beleive are no longer available
- could we ask for these to be reinstated - they gave gudiance on pre
employment, confidentiality ect, I think there were 10 topic areas. Perhpas
the RCN, ourselves in line with the competency framework should look to
promote indiviudal research more?
Is there a bank of OH nursing research out there?
I have worked to policys and procedures but are now an indepedent
practitioner and keep up to date with journals, jiscmail!, colleagues ect.
I like to think I work to evidenced based best practice - the latest idea of
best management but i guess unless someone audits my practice against a set
standard (to be decided?) I wil never truly know?
The news of an OH clinical effectiveness unit to improve OH in the NHS
should begin the way foward?
Best wishes
Lynda
