Hi Paul,
We obtain written consent for EPP workers bloods, so that they may then
take this with them to their next post.
Apart from that, I find the image of strapping people in for their blood
tests fairly interesting! Adding to the positive image of Occupational
health across the NHS. I have return to OH after a five year absence,
and find so many things haven't changed. The NHS admin system is a
nightmare, KFS or KFC or KSF thing is quite horrible, I printed off a 69
page document relating to my post and gateways and levels - and can only
ask why?
I digress, I thank you for your help and will be asking many more
question in the near future.
Many thanks

bloods
Dear Tracey,
you do not need a signed consent for these as a documented verbal
consent is acceptable. The Dept of Health and NMC have several
documents outlining issues of consent.
After you have explained the rationale for the test and the
implications of the result, if the employee sticks their arm out for you
and lets you put a needle in their vein I think that's sufficient
evidence of consent!
Best wishes
Paul

Essentially consent to the testing process, i.e. you can stick a needle
in my arm and remove blood
and send it for these tests.
Cheers
Pete

Do you mean consent for when you take the blood, or for giving the
results? Our department has a very basic consent for taking the
bloods,
which consists of two lines, one for the EPP worker to consent for
their
blood test, the details of which are not noted (hmm, must rectify
this)
and the second line where the OHA verifies the photographic ID.
Regards
Tracy

All
I would be grateful if anyone out there who would be willing to share
this type of consent form
with me rather than me re-inventing the proverbial wheel.
Thanks in advance
Pete
