Post-Doctoral Research Associate
Structure and Dynamics of Gas-Phase Metal Clusters
Salary: 24,402-31,840 pa
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the field
of experimental gas-phase cluster science. The position will be held in the
research group of Dr Stuart Mackenzie and is tenable for up to two years
(subject to a probation period of six months).
The project will involve the development and application of novel high
resolution spectroscopic techniques to the study of small gas-phase
transition metal clusters. This is part of a larger project funded by the UK
Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and designed to elucidate
the links between the structure of small clusters and their reactivity
towards small molecules.
The successful candidate will have, or expect to obtain in the near future,
a PhD in experimental physical chemistry, chemical physics or a related
subject. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and interest
in the following: laser spectroscopy, metal and metal-containing clusters,
velocity mapping / ion imaging, vacuum technology, photodissociation,
time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
The post is available from June 1st 2007, although the start date is negotiable.
Applications should include a CV, publications list, contact details for
three professional referees, and a completed form PD18 Parts I and III
(downloadable from
http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/personnel/forms/pd18/), and should be
sent to:
Dr Stuart Mackenzie,
Department of Chemistry,
Lensfield Road,

(email: [log in to unmask]).
Informal enquiries are welcome.
