A 2 year Post-doc position is available immediately within
the framework of the EU-marie Curie Research Training Network MRTN-CT-019335
Translocation (www.faculty.iu-bremen.de/mwinterhalter/index.html).
The work will focus principally on problems connected to the interactions
between antibiotics and proteins. Tools for these studies will be MD
simulations at classical level, free energy calculations and Kinetic Monte
Carlo, as weel as QM/MM calculations. Skills on unix systems, parallel
computing and scientific languages (fortran and/or C) are welcome.
The required background is the physics/chemistry of molecules, classical
statistical mechanics and the biophysics/biochemistry.
Due to the nature of the project, it is expected a strong interaction with
the other groups of the network in organizing meetings, summer schools and
eventually short research periods in the other laboratories of the network.
Our group is one of the leader simulation groups in Italy and covers several
field of molecular simulations. Composed by 11 permanent members that
coordinate several PhDs and Post-docs, it is affiliated to italian CNR via
the constitution of a regional laboratory, SLACS (Sardinian LAboratory for
Computational materials Science, http:\\www.slacs.it). Several in loco
computer facilities are available (400 opteron/processors beowulf). Moreover,
the group owns a Linux cluster at CASPUR (Rome), and has access to several
computer platforms at CINECA (Bologna).
Applicants must fullfill EU-Marie Curie eligibility rules for hiring,
coming from a member state and not more than 10 years of experience
from the master degree. Non-EU members can be selected with some restrictions.
Gross salary is 50,000 euro/year + benefits.
