As the Discipline Representative to the Renaissance Society of America
(RSA) for Music, I would like to encourage musicologists to attend this
year's RSA annual meeting in Miami, March 23-25. It will include papers
on music-related topics by Nicole Bensoussan, Anna Maria Busse Berger,
Benjamin Brand, Mauro Calcagno, Lorenzo Calendario, Philippe Canguilhem,
Seth Coluzzi, Marlene Eberhart, Don Harran, Aaron Kunin, Stefano
Lorenzetti, Patrick Macey, Anne MacNeil, Anthony Newcomb, Mary
Paquette-Abt, and Paul Schleuse (apologies if I missed anyone!).
The RSA would like to increase the participation of music scholars in its
activities. Anyone who might be interested in presenting a paper on a
musical topic next year should let me know within the next month or so.
Although individual submissions of papers are allowed, the RSA prefers to
have Discipline Representatives organize papers into panels whenever
possible. Feel free to contact me with informal ideas for sessions or
individual papers even if you aren't yet sure whether or not you wish to
participate. The RSA defines the Renaissance broadly as anything from ca.
1300 to ca. 1650 or a bit later.
