Funded by the Leverhulme Trust and based within the Media and
Communications department, the Goldsmiths Media Research Programme:
Spaces, Connections and Control is designed to illuminate how future
changes in communication technology will impact upon society in all its
aspects. This post is for a researcher on the Spaces of the News project
within this programme. Through interviews, mini-ethnographies and
qualitative analysis of news content this project explores the ways in
which technological, economic and social change is reconfiguring news
journalism and shaping the dynamics of the public sphere and public
culture. You will be involved in data collection and analysis from news
content to news professionals to citizen journalists. You will also be
involved in report writing and other publications
You will have previous research experience in qualitative research
methods, interest in or experience of news and journalism and possess
excellent written and oral communication, organisational and IT skills.
