**Cross Posting**
Dear Colleague
CILIP has teamed with Civic Conferences to host a second one-day conference on Wi-Fi in Libraries. It will be presented on 13 March 2007 and build on the success of the inaugural event in 2005, which attracted more than 100 delegates who rated it 95% Good to Excellent.
The conference theme is Getting full value from your investment in Wi-Fi and the programme will focus on the impact, challenges and potential of wireless broadband in public and academic libraries.
As wireless broadband becomes increasingly common in the UK's libraries, it is important to ensure highly-efficient, cost-effective systems are developed to enhance services provided to users. One of the conference's objectives is to encourage and support library services that have not yet taken the plunge, as well as those already using the technology.
Building on the success of the last conference, Wi-Fi in Libraries 2007 will seek to understand the impact of wireless broadband in libraries so far, the challenges it presents and potential solutions for library services and users. Delegates will learn about how Wi-Fi can benefit libraries and where it might lead in the future. They will end the day much better placed to make informed decisions on wireless implementation.
The programme comprises presentations, debates and discussions led by a panel of expert speakers so delegates can:
* Look at the bigger picture, considering how national policy and strategy for the use of wireless broadband in libraries has developed and how this is being delivered at a regional and borough-wide level
* Hear first hand what the first evaluations of wireless in libraries in England, Scotland and Wales have found and the resulting implications
* Consider successful case studies of wireless implementation in a number of 'pioneer' libraries, examining costs, outcomes and the overall impact on library usage
* Understand how to get the best out of wireless in libraries by addressing common issues faced including technology, support infrastructure, financial and operational issues
* Examine how changing and newly emerging technologies will affect the growth of wireless in libraries and how implementing libraries can best cope with it
Immediate booking www.cilip.org.uk/interests/wifi2007/registration.html is strongly advised. Last years event sold out with more than 200 attendees, who rated the conference 95% good to excellent.
