And didn't Carole from Dartford move to France to run a cats' home?
Old South Thames people might be able to put me right about this if not.

I did hear of someone in London going off to train as a podiatrist a few
years back. I can't remember her name though. David Bates, who used to run
the library at the former Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham HA, left and went
into management training and coaching.
I do so much copy-editing and proof-reading in the course of my that I feel
I should be able to earn money doing it. Rates aren't brilliant, though -
about £17 an hour initially, I think. I enjoy tinkering with computers, and
sometimes think it might be fun to be an IT support engineer. I should have
to pass my A+ exams, though, first. My colleagues think I should hire myself
out as a walk guide, taking parties out for long, strenuous, muddy country
walks!

Well I have been a Jazzercise instructor in the past but to earn enough to
do it full-time I would have to teach a million classes a week!! Never tried
pole-dancing (except down the pub after a few - don't ask)...

As an adjunct to poor Fiona having to look for a new job, I'd love to know
if anyone knows of any librarians who have left the profession completely
and what careers they went to?
I don't mean the obvious IT/knowledge management sort of things but
something completely different e.g librarian to psychologist
thanks
Sarah
