I find I've forgotten where the canonical location for log files for
Windows programs is. Some of our machines have c:\var\log\ nowadays,
which seems sensible enough.
Fay, if the machine is unrunnable due to repeatedly shutting down, then
one way of searching for such log files is to use a knoppix CD to boot
it into Linux, but I'd suggest letting someone who is used to it do
that, and of course if there is someone still well-versed in Windows
with preferred tools on that then they may get good results using those.
It sounds like either a rather small configuration change, or a
reinstall from scratch to me, I hope the former.
