Hi Stuart
You know, it's not going very well! We had lots of interest form students as soon as it was announced and about 4 responses from academics. I'm not sure if this is a comment on the "wealth" of Brunel or not. Maybe I'll offer it solely to the School of Arts they don't' tend to get massive fuding grants!
Promoting it: I am wary of email barrages to academics - information overload as it is. I'm hoping to do some posters for it to place in the Schools, but at the same time, it's nice if we reach 500 gradually (we're at 265 so far) and not in a rush so as to garner wide interest.
We're probably going to put the map of global hits on the stats page, agree with Richard - it looks better on blogs rather than our homepage.
The Thomson logo, yeh could be good for promoting the respository, just like OAIster but can clutter the front page I guess.

Subject: £500 prize?
Hi John,
From: http://bura.brunel.ac.uk/

BURA News
There is a prize of £500 to be won by a member of staff/research student who registers and self-deposits their work onto the archive. The winner will be drawn from this group when BURA reaches 500 items.

How is this initiative going? Do you think it is working?
Cheers,
Stuart
