THE OPEN UNIVERSITY
CENTRE FOR RESEARCH IN EDUCATION AND EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
Research Studentships in Education and Educational Technology
CREET has up to 12 Full-time, funded, 1 + 3 Postgraduate Research
Studentships
The Open University's Centre for Research in Education and Educational
Technology (CREET) invites applications for full-time research
studentships starting in October 2007. CREET is one of the largest
educational research units in the UK, with many researchers of
international reputation who wish to recruit research students of the
highest calibre to work in their areas of interest. All our research
degree programmes have ESRC recognition. The Computers and Learning
Research Group one of the research groups within the Centre for
Education and Educational Technology, is particularly interested in
taking more full time students in October 2007.
The Computers and Learning Research Group is one of the UK's leading
research groups in the use of technologies in education. We have
members with international reputations for research on learning
technologies and we engage in a wide range of research activities (see
http://kn.open.ac.uk/public/index.cfm?wpid=5403) Our understanding of
how technologies can best support learning is grounded in theory and a
concern for the most appropriate methodological approaches. Our doctoral
graduates include many distinguished academics, researchers, and
learning professionals. Our postgraduate researchers are a vital part
of the CALRG which provides a vibrant research culture for all members.
You can find out more about postgraduate research in the CALRG from our
postgraduate web pages (http://kn.open.ac.uk/public/index.cfm?wpid=5649)
Further information about CREET and applying to CREET can be found at
http://creet.open.ac.uk <http://creet.open.ac.uk/>
Some of the studentships will be fully funded and others will be half
funded by the University and half funded by an external sponsor. If you
have a sponsor to match funding you should indicate this in your
application.
The Open University provides excellent support for students and offers a
full range of training in computer, library and presentation skills.
Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, at least a 2.1 in an
undergraduate degree or Masters degree in psychology, computer science,
education or other appropriate discipline. Students are normally
expected to live within commuting distance of Milton Keynes.
Successful applicants will be registered for the Year 1 MRes (Master of
Research). Applicants who hold advanced research methods qualifications
should state this in their application as they may be exempt from the
Year 1 MRes.
Closing date: 1st March 2007.
Interviews will commence in April.
Informal queries can be made by email to the office of the Director for
Postgraduate Studies. Please contact Anne Foward, the Student Secretary,
