Research Studentship
Work, Interaction and Technology
King's College London
We are seeking applications for a studentship concerned with the analysis of interaction around artefacts, for example with everyday objects like paper documents and deskwork. The studentship is an EPSRC Case Award with Thales Research and Technology and outcomes of the research will be used to inform the design of novel systems to support distributed collaborative work, particularly advanced tabletop displays. The successful application will join a research group that specialises in fine-grained, video-based studies of social interaction, drawing on ethnomethodology and conversation analysis. The studentship will cover costs of tuition and a grant of approximately £12,000 per annum to cover living costs.
Applications are welcome from those with either a background in the social or computer sciences. Please send a CV with accompanying letter that describes your interests and where relevant, experience, in undertaking research of this type. Applications should be sent by the 16th February 2007 to Professor Christian Heath and Dr Paul Luff ([log in to unmask], [log in to unmask])
