Society of Archivists: Southwest Region training event

'Managing information in a digital and legislative age': best practice
overview and refresher workshop

DORSET HISTORY CENTRE, DORCHESTER, Fri 16 March 2007

Target audience:

• Newly qualified archivists and records managers wanting to acquire an
overview of best practice and recent developments in these areas

• Practising archivists and records managers wanting to refresh existing
knowledge and to benefit from established best practice in the sectors

• Practising archivists and records managers planning on implementing or
obtaining more information on EDRM systems within a Local Authority

Aims:

• To gain an overview of how DP and FOI legislation are being approached
in practice in the archive and records management sectors

• To gain an overview of the basic issues behind digital preservation

• To gain an overview of recent developments relating to digital records
and how these are being introduced in practice into Local Authorities
(including contributions from three leading Local Authorities currently
deploying EDRM systems)
