Home Office plans for development of
statistics in the field of crime and criminal justice
The 2007 annual meeting organised by the
Crime and Criminal justice Statistics User Group in partnership with the
Home Office
Royal Statistical Society
Central London: 19th March 2007
This meeting has been arranged by the Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics
Users Group (an independent body established by the Statistics Users Forum
of the Royal Statistical Society) and the Home Office
It is the latest in a series of meetings providing a forum and channel of
communication with statistics producers for users of all statistics relating
to any aspect of crime, crime prevention or the criminal justice system,
whether they be researchers, campaigners, politicians, journalists or users
in the public sector.
This year's meeting is particularly important as it allows for direct user
consultation on how the Home Office should take forward recommendations of
the recent Smith and Statistics Commission reviews of crime statistics
(see

06.pdf
and

The morning sessions are devoted to discussion of review recommendations.
In the afternoon there are 4 presentations on different aspects of current
development work.
All the presentation sessions include opportunities for debate and
discussion
