Alyson and others who have contributed to this discussion,
Several years ago an organisation called "Woman's Design Service" of 18
Ashwin street London Phone 0207 2416910 received funding from the Department
of Health to carry out some research into public toilet provision for Women.
They have published a book entitled "At Women's Convenience" which has some
useful guidance and they quote 750 mm as the preferred width of a cubicle
door.
I hope this helps

Subject: Doors to toilet cubicles
Does anyone know if there's any guidance as to acceptable widths for doors
to standard toilet cubicles - not accessible WCs or ambulant accessible,
just standard? I have just inspected some newly provided WCs, and the
cubicle doors were only 550mm wide, which seemed very narrow to me, but I
can't find any guidance to say what is acceptable.
Thanks.
