Hi everyone--we've been batting the 'attachments' question (should we allow
attachments on aacorn posts?) back and forth and have decided to try
allowing them. They cause problems for those using the digest format, but if
they're small it may not be too much of a problem. As Ken asks in his note
below, please indicate in your post whether you've made an attachment--that
will allow the digest users to switch formats and pull down the attachment.
Ken, I have to say that's an extraordinary number of emails by anyone's
count. My heart goes out to you and I'll stop complaining about the amount I
get.

Hi, Daved.
If everyone feels we should allow attachments, we can do so. There is
no difference
between big and small, though. Digest turns all to code.
I don't need to give up digest format. It means I will not read
attachments, but I'll
surf past coded squeeble. I get more than 200 emails a day. Even
after clearing away
spam, most are legit. I take two lists in one-by-one format because I have
some
ownership or moderating responsibilities. I just can't see giving up
digest format on my
AACORN sub. (On a list with 203 subscribers, others surely take
digest.) If people
want attachments, though, go ahead. If anyone wants to see them, they can
switch formats. Who knows ... I might even do the same at some point.
IF people send attachment, of course, they should describe it in the post so
we
can see what we are missing. If we want to grab the attachment, we can do so
from the archive.
Yours,
Ken
