Dear Jerome,
if you are running your job without GUI, you will at least want to set
some defaults by calling
spm('defaults',your_modality)
where your_modality would be 'fmri', 'eeg', 'pet', depending on which
model/data you want to estimate.
Then you can call spm_jobman to run your jobs.
