Dear All
I and a colleague have been tasked with developing /identifying an
approach to measuring the impact on health inequalities of all PCT
strategies, policies and procedures. Authors of PCT board papers will
be required to produce a short analysis of the impact of their paper on
health inequalities, using this tool.
In order to ensure compliance and ensure the process is meaningful
rather than a tick box exercise, the tool will need to short, simple and
easy to use. That in itself runs contrary to the health impact
assessment process, which typically involves quite a long, and highly
consultative process (which in practice, is unlikely to occur for each
board paper).
We have identified several HIA toolkits which we are planning to
evaluate, through a trawl of the net.
I am emailing the list because I wonder if anyone has already been
through this or a similar process, and has identified / developed a
toolkit which has worked well and not proved too arduous to apply? I
appreciate that the toolkit/process one adopts may vary depending on
local needs and population.
Naturally we are also undertaking a literature review on HIA.
Any thoughts/offerings would be much appreciated.
Many thanks and kind regards
