We have recently had a case of a woman who had breast surgery, and had
to return to work before she was fit to do so. We campaigned for this
woman to have the right of a phased return to work, and the trust is in
the process of changing its policy on sick leave for cosmetic surgery.
We stated to personnel that the risks to this woman post operatively
should be considers as for any person returning to work post
operatively, and that it was not right to put this person at risk
because they had chosen to have their operation.

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Elective/plastic surgery
Not sure if this has been asked before but can I ask if other
organisations
give 'sick time' for plastic surgery? We have an employee who is having
a
tatoo removed & feels it should be 'sick leave' rather than in his own
annual leave time. Previously we have had a woman who had a breast
reduction but there was a medical need so it was given as sick time but
with regards to the tatoo Im just not sure. Personnel have asked for my
opinion.
Any comments would be most welcome.
