Hi Katie
I initially was offered a temporary position for 6 months then was offered a permanent position, I had no experience whatsoever. I now work for an American company as an occupational health and safety manager for the UK. There's plenty of scope and opportunity, its just keeping your eyes open. I've been trying to recruit a nurse now for over 6 months with no luck. I'm not so concerned about them having an occupational health qualification but I do need someone with audiometry and spirometry experience in addition to carrying out pre employment medicals. There are companies out there like mine who need occupational health nurses, willing to sponsor further development and progression. I'd invite you for an interview if you were closer, but we're based in Luton
Quite a number of employers I meet with are keen to recruit nurses with an interest in health and safety also, when I returned from overseas I applied for 5 positions in occupational health and safety and was offered all but one so I think there's a demand there. So you could look at possibly doing a health and safety course. In addition to this there are various courses available nationwide.
The Occupational Health magazine is a relatively good source of information and helps keep you abreast of current developments. There's also plenty of information on the internet in addition to employment opportunities.
Don't give up.

Hi Suzanne
Thankyou for your response, where did you see the ad for the bank practice nurse?
