I thought this was a interesting question as I had sick leave to undergo
IVF, had I been able to have children the standard manual way! would my
employer would have granted me a few days for that!
but what was my ill health issue? My only justification that this was
sickness absence was that I could have become depressed had I not been
able to explore this avenue, In relation to Cosmetic surgery, is it
really truly just for cosmetic reasons, or is it related to a person
sense of self and causes them distress and/or depression even when self
inflicted.
Also we don't make people take annual leave when they willfully throw
themselves out of a plane and break their leg or because they think that
putting a shelf up can be turned into an extreme sport and electrocute
themselves, where do we draw the line?
Just thought I throw that into the mix
Twins by the way, be careful what you wish for.....

Hi Amanda
I have read that if its cosmetic then depending on the company policy
for leave of absence she
may not be entitled to sick leave - as you rightly put it no medical
reason.
However i would meet with her if they wished to refer her to rule out
any issues regarding mental health for
reasons for the removal but being careful at the same time - again
this would have to be fairly
substantial to impact on her. The DDA does advise reasons not
included and i think cosmetic is one of them.
good luck
