Subject: The Ocean at Home - An Illustrated History of the Aquarium

Hello:

Let me please draw your attention to the following book:

THE OCEAN AT HOME - An illustrated history of the aquarium
Princeton Architectural Press / Chronicle Books, 2005

From the publisher's brochure: This book traces the development of this most
wonderful invention, giving insight into the cultural and social
circumstances that accompanied its swift rise in popularity. Brunner tells a
compelling story of obsession, beauty, discovery and delight.

Thank you for your interest. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any
questions.

Sincerely,
Bernd Brunner

Reviews:

Public and private, amateur and professional, Brunner's illustrated history
of marine and freshwater aquaria is a history indeed. ... His cultured but
unpretentious style carries with it a real sense of the Victorian drawing
room, an impression reinforced by the wealth of contemporary engravings he
has chosen to illustrate his text.
The Times Literary Supplement, November 18, 2005

The Ocean at Home is a most attractively produced little book, with a
pleasingly old-fashioned style accentuated by the 19th-century provenance of
most of its illustrations. ... Mr Brunner has given us an evocative picture
of the delight and enthusiasm which inspired the aquarium movement in its
formative years.
International Zoo News, December 2005
