Oh my! I couldn't agree more. This ("cultural competence") is such a
vexed question for us, something scholarly, contemporary and from the UK
would be very helpful. Perhaps it's time this e-group had its own wiki
site??
As to Huda's main question; we are looking at treatment and care of
people with schizophrenia in primary care by ethnic origin not in
hospital so that may not be relevant. That is we (in Lambeth) are in
the final stages of improving ethnicity recording to enable us to
identify a suitable study population and now have some preliminary data.
The project includes a literature review about ethnic differences in
diagnosis of schizophrenia and the various theories but regrettably this
is not yet complete let alone submitted for publication. I will alert
list members when publication is imminent.
Best wishes
