Thanks Briony
We've got hold of the factsheets via Collections Link, so no need to
worry about forwarding them on.
I get the feeling from everyone that it's perfectly achievable, but not
exactly fun!

Hi
We have a procedural manual that we originally created about 3 years
ago, and have since added and updated some of the procedures. It does
take quite a long time, but Becki is right that the MDA factsheet on
creating procedural manuals, but also the individual factsheets on the
different key areas are extremely useful.
I can email you the whole thing, or particular sections - let me know
what would be helpful.

Hi Georgina,
We are currently updating ours at the moment for accreditation. I
followed the MDA factsheet, which I found really helpful and have
treated the updated information like I was compiling a DIY manual, so it
is a useable document, not a massive thing. I also pulled all the
information I could together, like scrapbooks, documents and wrote a
basic history of the documentation system. Also I noted where things
are kept etc. I then worked steadily through each title like object
entry etc. It soon comes together, but it does take time. The previous
one I did was really a one for the times, which really needs updating.
I would be more than happy to forward you a copy when I've finished.

Subject: [SHCG-LIST] Documentation Procedural Manuals
Hello everyone
All registered Museums in South London are being invited to apply for
Accreditation in April this year. Croydon Museum Service is aware that
one the biggest new bits of work that we need to do is to write a
documentation procedural manual.
As part of our action planning for accreditation, I'm trying to get an
idea o the scale of the work involved. Has anyone out there written a
procedural manual already? If so, how long did it take? Would you be
willing to forward a copy? Obviously, I'd treat it as confidential.
Many thanks
George
